MSF attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data.

We process your data with the utmost care and exclusively in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) and the Dutch Implementation Act General Regulation Data Protection (UAVG).

We also adhere to all codes of conduct of the trade association Goede Doelen Nederland and the (privacy) codes of the trade association for Dialogue Marketing (DDMA). Since 2012 we have been granted the Privacy Guarantee (for more information see www.privacywaarborg.nl ).

MSF is the controller within the meaning of the GDPR and therefore responsible for the fair and lawful processing of your personal data. MSF is registered at Plantage Middenlaan 14, 1018 DD in Amsterdam. 

When does MSF collect information about me?

Directly

You can provide us with personal information when you: donate, request a periodic agreement, register for one of our meetings or events, set up a fundraising campaign for us (among others online on actiezondergrenzen.nl), communicate with us, request a brochure or magazine, request a guest speaker, or subscribe to e-mail newsletters and leave a comment on our social media accounts.

Social media

We may receive information about you from your social media accounts or services. We can do this if you have given your permission. You can manage these settings yourself.

Websites

We also keep personal data for the improvement of our services. For example click behavior on the website to analyze which articles are read the most and open rates to see if our newsletters are relevant.

For this we store cookies in your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer) when you visit the websites. There are different types of cookies, in addition to the necessary cookies that you can manage. Read more about cookies

Registration e-mails

You can sign up with us for the monthly newsletter. You can unsubscribe from our e-mails at any time via the unsubscribe link in the e-mail or via the unsubscribe form.


Indirectly

We obtain personal data from third parties or public sources, where we use such data to enrich our current database or to keep personal data accurate.

 

What information does MSF collect about me and why?

 

We process following personal data:

  • Personal details (like name, gender, date of birth) and contact details (like address, e-mail address and telephone number) to be able to deal with your questions and requests, to register you for our events, to contact you for updates and fundraising communications, to provide you with support and information when you became a fundraiser (f.e. on actiezondergrenzen.nl) and when you appoint us as administrator of your last will

  • Financial details (like bankdetails) to process and track gifts and structural donations

  • Details about your support to MSF (like the amount of your gifts)

  • After your consent, we collect, via cookies, your IP address, your social ID, and surfing details to be able to follow your involvement and to send you online communications that match your interests, needs and commitment. You can read more about cookies in our cookiestatement).

  • We also use 'custom target groups' via social media platforms.We do this via Facebook, Twitter and via LinkedIn targeting. (Personalized) advertisements can be displayed on these platforms. We do not provide any personal data to third parties for this, unless you have given unambiguous consent.

 

We can also use (parts of) above mentioned data:

  • to analyse our fundraising activities

  • to improve our services and information provided to you by using surveys for evaluation after a visit to an event or meeting or, for example, an investigation into your donorship.

  • to register your wishes in case you appoint us as administrator of your last will

  • to put you on a suppression list in case you ask us not to contact you any more which helps us to ensure your will and right.

 

Updates and fundraising communications

We set up fundraising campaigns (online, per post, via telemarketing and face to face) to let you know what MSF does and how your support makes a difference. We do that f.e. in case MSF offers assistance in a crisis situation or to request other support. We will always respect your preferences and try to send you information that you find interesting, in the form that you prefer.

Who has access to my information?

We share personal information with other organizations that help us carry out our mission. They may only use this data for the assignment they receive from us and are obliged to use and protect your personal data with care. They must keep the data secret and destroy it after use. We make clear agreements about this in advance.

They help us f.e. with the following activities:

  • processing of donations

  • handling of incoming calls

  • fundraising campaigns (face to face, online, via direct mail and telemarketing)

  • surveys

Only if we are legally obliged to do so, we will share personal data with tax authorities, investigation authorities, such as the police and judiciary, or supervisors such as the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Under no circumstances will MSF sell your data or making it available to other organizations or companies.

 

How do you protect my personal information?

MSF stores your personal information in a secure database. And they stay there too. Physical, technical and organizational measures have been taken to protect your personal data. All data that you enter in our electronic forms is sent via a secure connection. As a result, the data exchanged between you and our computer (s) is unreadable for others.

 

MSF uses a secure internet environment as soon as you start completing your one-time donation or donorship. Then others do not get the chance to secretly watch. Via SSL your transaction data is sent encrypted over the internet. You do not need any special software to pay with SSL. You recognize a secure SSL connection by the 'green lock' in your browser.

Transfer takes place based on specific security methods from your own bank.

 

How long do you keep this data?

We store the information you provide for as long as necessary for the relationship you intend to have with us and for as long as we have a legal obligation to do so.

We will store your name and e-mail address as long as you are registered for our newsletter and / or mailings.

 

What is the legal basis for processing personal data?

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG), organizations may not simply process personal data.

 

Organizations may process 'ordinary' personal data if the data processing is based on one of the six AVG principles .

 

In MSF, we process your personal data:

  • when you give us your informed consent

  • to comply with legal obligations including accounting and tax law and other mandatory laws and regulations

  • when it’s necessary for performance of contract or charitable pledge you make in our favour

  • in our legitimate interest where we always ensure that our interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms

How can I change my personal data and can I gain access to my data?


The AVG gives you various rights with regard to your personal data, such as the right to view, change or delete. To exercise these rights, please contact us via amsterdam.VRAGEN@amsterdam.msf.org or 0800-0102 (free). We will provide all the information you request as quickly as possible, but this can take up to 30 days. You may be asked to answer some identifying questions.

Information and access

You can request all the information we have about you. Submit this request using the information above so that we can process it and give you an overview of the personal data that we process about you.

Rectification

If you believe that the personal data that you have is incorrect, you have the right to request that the information that concerns you be updated. If you want to have information updated, please contact us using the information above.

Constraint

You have the right to ask us to stop or limit the use of personal data in certain cases, for example where it is not necessary to do what you have provided it for, or if there is disagreement about its accuracy or legitimate use . If you want to limit usage data, please contact us using the data above.

Withdrawal of consent and objection

The moment we process personal data for which you have given your consent, you can withdraw your consent to process your data at any time.This means that from that moment on we will no longer process your personal data for that purpose.

If we process personal data to promote our legitimate interest, for example for direct marketing purposes, you may object to this at any time.

Removal

In some cases you have the right to have your personal data removed (right to delete) or to transfer it to another organization ("data portability"), for example if you think that we no longer need or use the personal data unlawfully.

If you have requested that we do not send you any marketing material, we must keep some limited information to ensure that you will not be contacted in the future.

Data portability

If we process your personal data on the basis of your consent or for the performance of a contract, you may request us to return the personal data provided to us in a standard format so that you can provide it to another responsible party. If that is possible, you can also request us to pass on the personal data directly to the other responsible party.
